Flake soil - 3 Litre Bag

Flake soil - 3 Litre Bag

£7.50Price

Flake soil is a fermented substrate for feeding to larvae of some of the larger flower and rhinoceros beetles such as Dynastes hercules and Chalcosoma caucasus as well as some Stag Beetles larvae such as Rainbow Stag beetles.

Instructions for use -

In order to use the flake soil it will need to be rehydrated. Place the flake soil in a ventilated container, add small quantities of water and mix until the soil is damp but not saturated (when you squeeze the soil it should clump together but you should not be able to squeeze droplets of water out). Doing this can cause another round of fermentation to begin. Simply stir the soil once daily for 7 days before use, and as long as the temperature in the soil doesnt increase dramatically it is safe to use. If the soil does begin to ferment a second time and the soil temperature begins to increase dramatically then continue to stir it daily until the temperature decreases. It is then safe to use.

It is important not to mix with other substrates as this is likely to cause a second round of fermentation.
