Peruphasma schultei – Black Beauty Stick Insect (UK-Bred)
Rare, striking, and highly sought-after, the Peruphasma schultei — better known as the Black Beauty Stick Insect — is a stunning species from Peru. With their velvet-black bodies, bright red wings, and golden eyes, these insects are a true gem of the hobby and a must-have for any invert enthusiast. 
What makes them special
Unique appearance: Jet-black body with contrasting yellow eyes and a flash of scarlet when wings are displayed.
Compact size: Adults reach around4 - 6 cm, making them easy to house.
Captive-bred in the UK: Hardy, healthy stock, well adapted to captive conditions.
Care & housing
Enclosure: Medium, upright enclosure with good ventilation. Provide plenty of branches and foliage for climbing and moulting. They also like to have surfaces to hide behined such as upright pieces of cork bark or cork tubes. 
Substrate & humidity: A moisture-retaining substrate with light misting to maintain humidity. Ensure good airflow to prevent fungal/bacterial build up. 
Diet: Primarily feeds on privet, but also accepts lilac and honeysuckle.
Handling: Can produce defensive spray, which while not always noticable can cause some irritation to the nose and eyes — best admired as display insects with minimal handling.
