Mecynorrhina oberthuri unicolour 2nd Instar x 1

This is the first time we have had this incredible species of African flower beetle!
Larvae feed on decayed Oak/ Beech Leaves and decayed Oak/Beech wood. Additives such as dried gamarus shrimp can also be used in order to provide additional protein. 
Egg to Adult takes between 12- 18 Months. 
Adults can live 3- 6 months on average. 
Optimal temperatures are between 22 - 26 degrees c.
