Caligo memnon - Owl Butterfly pupae x 5

Pupae will take 2-3 weeks to hatch in the correct conditions. A make shift emerging cage can be made simply using something such as a faunarium with damp capillary matting in the bottom to increase humidity. Use a dowel that fits snug from one side of the faunarium to the other so the pupae can be glued to the dowel and then hung 4-5 inches off the floor so they have space to pump up their wings when hatching. Keep the ‘emerging cage’ warm (26 degrees c) but not in direct sun light. When the adults hatch they will feed on ripe fruit and females will lay eggs on banana plants or canna lilies.
