£30.00Price

The Atlas Moth is one of the largest in the wold reaching sizes of up to 25cm wing span for large specimens!

Adults do not feed as they do not have working mouth parts and so the moths will only live for 7 - 14 days. During which it is important that they able to locate a mate, pair up and product the next batch of eggs to go on and become the next generation of caterpillars.

These caterpillars are being fed Privet (Ligustrum) which is a commonly used food plant for rearing atlas moths in captivity.

The larvae should be kept in well ventilated enclosures and kept clean, removing droppings daily and refreshing the food plant as necessary until the larvae make their cocoons. The larvae will tolerate a wde range of temperature conditions from 18-27 degrees. We keep our breeding shed between 20 and 24 degrees C and they are doing very well in there.

The cocoons can then be left where they are and kept warm and lightly misted with water once - twice a day until they emerge.
