Gongylus gongylodes 3rd Instar x 1
The Wandering Violin Mantis
This species is unusually elongated and has smaller raptorial forearms than most species, making it a great candidate for communal houseing. Just be sure to provide them with plenty of room and lots of food to avoid them picking on oneanother. Its also worth separating out any individuas that grow larger than the rest of the group.
They are curently still feeding on fruit flies. Smaller food items fed more frequently is better for this species. At 4th Instar you could start thinking about introducing green bottle flies and their larvae.
This species likes it hot and can be kept under a basking lamp to achieve this.
Mist the enclosure at least once per day, this can be increased during the summer months to 2-3 x per day.
